Frequently Asked Questions

When should I contact WBRA about my project?

Contractors are encouraged to contact WBRA well in advance of any construction activities involving sewer-related work. Please note that the PA DEP has currently restricted development within our service area, so early coordination is essential.

How do I ensure my project has sewer capacity?

Contractors must coordinate with the Developer to confirm that sewer capacity has been officially assigned to the project, as the PA DEP has current development restrictions in place.

What is required for development within the existing service area?

Projects requiring no sewer extension must submit an application form and may need PA DEP sewage facilities planning if the proposed use increases sewage generation rates.

What technical standards must be followed?

All installations must adhere to WBRA Standards and Detail Drawings, which are available upon request to assist with the Developer’s design documents.

How do I schedule an inspection?

To schedule an inspection for laterals or repairs, contact Dan Whitmoyer at (570) 935-0087 (ext. 4) or (570) 560-2023 at least 24 hours before work begins.

Are there fees for inspections?

The initial inspection is free of charge, but WBRA reserves the right to bill the Developer at current hourly rates for any necessary re-inspections due to failed tests or improper installation.

Inspection Information

All sewer laterals (new laterals or repairs) must be inspected before they are covered over. Customers, contractors or developers who need to schedule an inspection or re-inspection should contact Bob Kaiser at the WBRA office.

There is no charge for the first inspection; however, WBRA reserves the right to charge for subsequent inspections that result from failed tests or improper installation, etc. so please plan accordingly.

Construction Standards are available upon request.*
